Over the past few days we have been working on completing three complete system swaps. No better way to close out the month (and week of hard work) than getting all three up and running!

This means once all are up and ready, we will continue the project by working on air flow; plenum, box, flex, and registers will be added on. Naturally once all is resident ready, the art of hands-on diagnosing, troubleshooting and preventive maintenances will be keeping us busy.

Getting all hands-on deck, this week we are getting down with a total of three system swaps. Hard to believe this group is advancing to this point so quickly… needless to say, I have confidence everyone’s knowledge, skills and abilities will progress smoothly.

HVACTA System Swap in Action

Though there were a few struggles, clarity and resolve remained focused for all. Provided are a couple photos of the first-time experience… I can’t wait to see what happens tomorrow!

Here’s a quick summary of what the installation process requires:

Refrigerant Recovery: Safely removing old refrigerant according to EPA regulations.
Removal: Disconnecting electrical and gas lines to remove the old indoor and outdoor units.
Installation: Setting the new units, connecting new refrigerant lines, and upgrading the thermostat.
Testing: Pressurizing the lines, pulling a vacuum to remove moisture, and calibrating airflow.

Yep, we do it all, and so shall YOU!

Can you say, “up and running?” I certainly hope so as the group completed the installation (from scratch) a double headed mini split. We are talking, doing it all!

Throughout the following weeks all will have the opportunity to build distribution boxes, run flex, attach registers, perform troubleshooting, and get down with multiple preventive maintenances. Naturally working on gauges happens daily.

Mrs. Smith, our standing resident, is cheerful and not just because of the Holiday… Her split system is up and running AND cooling the place to her comfort level. With the plenum up, registers in place, air flow is making all ready to open Christmas presents.

From wiring to the vacuum, to everything in between, all got their hands in the groove. Come to think of it, the BEST way to learn the life of an HVAC technician IS to learn by doing. There were a few mistakes along the way but that’s to be expected. After all, without challenges and overcoming issues, growth will never happen.

Allowing challenges, hands-on learning, and frustration to ride shotgun, the group is progressing nicely. All three systems are scheduled to be up and operating before end of Tuesday… and you know what that means? You guessed it, plenum, distribution boxes, flex, and registers will be next in line… how exciting this is becoming!

HVACTA: New System Installation – Getting Close

Though there were a couple re-do’s over the past couple days, striving for excellence will never be marginalized. After all, if our group was installing at your place, perfection is what you would expect also.

Photos displayed are all action from today… so you get an inside depiction of what HVACTA does and expects. So far, only a couple minor cuts (but those are to be expected) while ALL are well on their way to a new career.

Later on today, Wednesday, the group will be partnering hard work with pizza from Humgry Howie’s. Will let you know how that goes. Until then, remain groovy and keep sharing, commenting, and checking us out.

After a relaxing weekend, all returned today with one goal in mind: get all three system swaps up and running and it looks like all are focused and well on the way.

HVACTA: New System Installation Day 3

System swaps require a great deal of concentration, skill, patience, and knowledge. This workshops group has all the above and it’s getting close to getting all up and running.

Drain lines, float switches, low voltage wiring, and a whole bunch of brazing and testing are about to come to a positive conclusion. Suspect tomorrow (or the day following, just before Thanksgiving) will find all working on plenum and building boxes. Next week will be installing collars, flex, and registers… at least that is the plan. Once all are up, that’s when the HVQAC servicing element and preventive maintenances comes in play.

We are living the dream… and making it real! Here we are in the middle of week three, and all are getting their hands (and minds) into what it takes to perform a full system swap. The past couple days we prepared by reviewing low voltage wiring… today we are heading to get it all up and running.

HVACTA: New System Installation, part 1

Understanding low voltage wiring is not an option… it is a MUST. Here’s a quick summary: HVAC low-voltage wiring uses a 24-volt AC control circuit to send signals between the thermostat and the heating/cooling equipment (furnace, air handler, condenser). This control wiring tells high-voltage components, such as the compressor and fan motors, when to turn on or off via relays and contactors.

The thermostat acts as the primary control interface and a series of switches that open or close the low-voltage circuits based on temperature settings.

Keep in on this journey as the group builds, tests, troubleshoots, and performs preventive maintenances on the system they are installing… it’s gonna rock!
