In recognition of outstanding HVAC progress, we proudly congratulate students as they prepare for their career launch. Ceremonies are scheduled for this Friday!

HVAC TA GraduatesWith a motto of learning by doing, the students not only performed basic preventive maintenance on units, each gained valuable experience with torches/brazing, reading measurements, checking ohms, replacing parts such as capacitors and motors, but also completed two full system swaps.

Final day of class is Tuesday while Wednesday will find us all together preparing for the Universal EPA Exam and with Thursday the exam will be administered.

Though students will not have the privilege of practicing on a roof top where the temperature exceeds 100 degrees for hours on end, they do break down and become introduced to what’s involved with larger ton units.

Hands-On Learning

HVACTA RTUTechnicians learn by doing… This 15-ton RTU came off a Tuesday Morning with the help of a crane. Bringing the unit back to the facility, students examine and tear down, allowing an opportunity to become familiar with the fundamentals.

HVAC Technicians troubleshoot daily activity. When it comes to deciding the most effective and efficient move, HVAC Technical Academy students examine potentials using the Situation, Task, Action, Resolve problem solving technique.

Hands-On Learning

  • HVAC TA DiscolorationSituation: Examine not just the immediate area, look at the surrounding to gain a complete analysis.
  • Task: What is going on, what is the resident complaining about, what do you need to resolve?
  • Action: After determining the situation and task, what action will you take to resolve. Once the action is weighed and decided upon… time to perform.
  • Result: When all is said and done, was the problem taken care of? At this time, reflect on what you did and what changes could you have made to be more effective.

  • What would your first step be if/when upon approaching a resident looking for answers… recognizing the resident is not happy and wants immediate resolve. Not always an easy fix, HVAC technicians require fast decision-making skills, and this is just part of the equation.

During our first hour of class, American Air & Heat visited and shared HVAC insight to our students about their organization, what they look for in hires, HVAC Classroom Lab - Hands on Time Imageand the HVAC industry… this is how relationships are built and look forward to developing a long-lasting relationship.

Hands-On Time

Another busy class/lab from HVAC Technical Academy. Today all opened a package unit, checked pressures, and examined parts. All students went through the practice without incident… another good experience.

Immediately after package unit diagnostics, the group tested capacitors, thermostats, contactors, and a few other items back on site.
