Expectations

expectations
  • Keeping it real, not all applicants will be granted access to our program. For those unable to perform general HVAC responsibilities, such as climbing a ladder, crawling into an attic, ability to go up and down stairs, lifting up to 40 pounds, or without a driver’s license, access within the HVAC industry is compromised
  • Copy of driver’s license and Social Security Card required during application/enrollment phase
  • We do not mislead students or promise employment upon completion, we will supply the necessary tools and support, the result and choice belong to the individual

Students must understand and agree to the following:

  • Terms, conditions, rules, and consequences set forth in the application and student expectations contract
  • Weapons of any kind are prohibited and will result in immediate student removal and program disqualification
  • Fighting or any acts of aggression will result in immediate student removal and program disqualification

HVACTA secures a professional atmosphere where students and staff are held to high standards

  • Professional courtesy will not be compromised
    • Personal phone use allowed during designated break time only and will not be allowed during classroom and/or lab activities
    • Littering is not acceptable; cups, paper products, or any form of trash will be placed in proper containers
    • Smoking allowed ONLY in designated areas AND only during designated breaks. Smoking is not allowed during classroom or lab time. Cigarette butts will be placed in designated containers
  • Respect fellow students, facilitators, staff, and property
  • Attendance
    • Though we anticipate 100% attendance, we understand situations may happen once or twice during the six-week cycle. Without exception, missing more than three class sessions will result in program disqualification
  • Tardiness
    • Students are expected to be within the classroom setting five minutes prior to schedule. In other words, classes beginning at 8:30 am should have all students ready and in the classroom no later than 8:25 am.

In addition to the theory and lab activities, students gain practical experience with (not all-inclusive):

  • Refrigerant charging / recovery / recycling / reclamation
