April Job Fair Insight

In addition to the Job Fair scheduled for Monday, April 18, 2022 from 2:00PM to 5:00PM at the Holden Heights Community Center, 1201 20th Street Orlando, Florida 32805, a second will also find 2nd Chance University and HVAC Technical Academy present.

Casselberry Job Fair April 21st

Casselberry will be holding a job fair on the 21st of this month from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at 101 Sunnytown Road, #103. For those who are justice-involved and live in the Sanford/Casselberry, this is the place to be if you are serious about getting a job and/or the tools for success.

ATTITUDE is EVERYTHING

Getting you a heads-up on job fair etiquette, ATTITUDE is EVERYTHING.

  • Keeping a positive tone and manner is not just what you say but how you say it
  • Nonverbal communication must be always in check. For example, if there is a line of several people in front of you, Do NOT interrupt, complain, or get on your phone, or slouch.
  • Actions speak louder than words… always represent who you are and what you bring to the potential employer positively.

There is much more to consider, and we will review as we approach the first of two April job fairs I hope to see you at.

Share this post and keep others throughout Central Florida in the know and hope to see YOU there!

HVAC Programs: Which IS Right For Me?

HVAC Programs: Which IS Right For Me?

There are several program options to becoming an HVAC Service Technician. Get to know the campus, curriculum/hands-on activities, program length, and career assistance before you make the decision to spend your time, money, and hopes. For today, we’ll take a quick review on these three areas and follow-up with a few more next time.

Campus Visit

Before making any decisions as to which program is right for you, narrow your search by visiting the campuses you are considering. Things to consider include driving distance, facility distractions, comfortableness (go with your gut on this one), and parking.

Curriculum Review

Though most HVAC programs are consistent with each other when it comes to curriculum, look for user-and reader friendliness. Make sure the text fits your needs and introduces the basic concepts you will need as an HVAC Service Technician. For a bonus, make sure the program offers personal as well as professional material every day. Employers want soft and personal skills… period.

Hands-on Activities

Before signing the bottom line, walk through the lab/hands-on portion of the program. Make sure EVERY day offers real-world experiences. Without exception, theory is good, but practice is great. Check out our next blog as a few more considerations will be reviewed.
