We are heading into the final workshop week at HVAC Technical Academy, and all are heavy with hands on action. Between brazing, component and system breakdowns, coil cleanings and getting to confident tool application, much has been going on.
Brazing
HACTA: I am a BRAZER
For those not familiar, HVAC brazing is a high-heat metal-joining process for creating strong, leak-proof refrigerant lines, using filler metal (like silver alloys) melted by a torch, requiring specific equipment (torch, rods, nitrogen) and strict safety protocols (PPE, fire prevention) to join copper pipes for high-pressure systems.
HVACTA: It’s Brazing Time
The ability to braze effectively and safely is a requirement within the HVAC industry. Service technicians will be torching it up on a daily basis… recognizing the importance, HVAC Technical Academy insists all participants are above standard when it comes to brazing.
HVACTA: My First Braze
Take a look at the photos showcasing each participant first braze job. Come to think of it, “my first braze” has a rather nice tune. Don’t you think? Looking forward to their progression, keep checking us out, comment, and share.
HVACTA: On the First Day of Brazing
Every day is a day of progression. Today we introduced brazing techniques to a group of first timers. Each had their way with at least three copper cuts and three connections.
HACTA: Brazing for the First Time
We wasted not time to get into action. That’s the great thing about HVAC Technical Academy, we learn by doing. In addition to brazing, we began getting down and dirty by taking apart systems… yep, that soon in the program!.
