To break it down: HVAC low-voltage wiring typically operates on a 24-volt circuit supplied by a step-down transformer inside the furnace or air handler. It acts as the control system—or “messenger”—telling high-voltage relays when to turn the compressor, blower motor, or heating elements on and off.
